Nice, located on the Côte d’Azur, is one of France’s top tourist destinations. Known for its Mediterranean climate, pebble beaches, picturesque old town and delicious cuisine, Nice offers a multitude of attractions and activities for visitors. Here are just a few of the must-sees in Nice, especially for rugby fans visiting for the World Cup.

Promenade des Anglais

This famous promenade runs for seven kilometers along the coast of Nice. Stroll along this palm-lined avenue, take a break in one of the many cafés and restaurants, or sit back and enjoy the view of the Mediterranean Sea from the emblematic blue chairs.

Old Nice

Stroll through the narrow, winding streets of Nice’s old town, filled with stores, markets and restaurants. Don’t miss the Sainte-Réparate cathedral and the Lascaris palace.

Castle Hill

Climb to the top of this hill for a panoramic view of Nice and the Baie des Anges. Although the château itself is no longer there, you can still explore the ruins, lush gardens and waterfall.

Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain (MAMAC)

This museum boasts an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, with a particular focus on Pop and New Realism.

Cours Saleya

Visit this lively market to buy local produce, flowers, spices and more. The flower market is particularly popular.

Nicoise cuisine

Enjoy local specialties such as socca (a pancake made from chickpea flour), salade niçoise and pissaladière. Fresh seafood is also a must.

Excursions outside Nice

If you have the time, take advantage of your stay in Nice to explore other jewels of the Côte d’Azur. Cities such as Cannes, Antibes and Monaco are all within easy reach by train or car.

Nice has a lot to offer visitors, whether they’re here for the Rugby World Cup or simply to enjoy the beauty of the Côte d’Azur. With so much to see and do, you’re sure to find something you like in Nice.
