Whether you choose to travel by plane, train or car, it’s easy to get to Marseille from many destinations in France and abroad.
By plane
Marseille-Provence Airport is the international airport serving Marseille. Located in Marignane, some 27 kilometers northwest of the city, it offers a multitude of connections to major French and European cities. Direct flights from Paris, London, Rome, Madrid and many other cities are available. Several airlines, including low-cost carriers, serve this airport.
Once you’ve landed, it’s easy to get to the city center. Airport shuttles are available every 15 minutes, and the journey to Marseille Saint-Charles train station takes around 25 minutes.
By train
Gare de Marseille Saint-Charles is the city’s main train station. Located in the heart of Marseille, this station is a major gateway for travelers from all over France and Europe. It is served by the TGV high-speed train, which connects Paris in around 3 hours, Lyon in 1 hour 40 minutes, and Nice in 2 hours 30 minutes. The station is also connected to the regional and intercity train network.
Gare Saint-Charles is ideally located for access to most of the city’s hotels and attractions. What’s more, it’s connected to Marseille’s public transport network, making it easy to get around the city.
Per car
If you’re planning to drive to Marseille, the city is well served by a network of freeways. The A7 freeway links Marseille to Lyon, while the A8 provides access to Nice and the Italian border. However, as in any large city, traffic can be dense, especially during rush hour, and parking can be difficult to find and expensive.
